Hexagon is committed to using its solution portfolio to help promote the development of renewable energies.

This commitment is best demonstrated by our acquisition of a 40-hectare site (equivalent to 60 football fields) in Acrhidona, Spain. The site includes a recently constructed, 8.24 megawatt peak (MWp) photovoltaic solar park, which uses PV cells to convert the sun’s energy into electricity and is currently connected to the grid. This acquisition is the first wave of green-tech investments by Hexagon.

This site will be used to test Hexagon’s many solutions, such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technology, and to ensure these solutions enable designers and engineers innovate new green-tech technologies. In one application, Hexagon’s CFD technology was used to determine that a tracking system could optimize a panel’s orientation and increase efficiency by up to 20%.

Interested in learning how CFD is used to address some of the most challenging engineering problems? You are invited to our webinar series where we answer this question. This webinar series is ideal for expert and novice CFD users.
