What Our MSC Family is Thankful for This Season

Every day, we have alot to be grateful for. We asked a few of our employees what they are most thankful for this Thanksgiving season. Here's what they had to say!

"I look forward to Thanksgiving each year because it allows me to cook and bake for days and there are finally enough people around to eat it all. Since I was 10 years old, I was responsible for making the pies for our Thanksgiving dinner and once I had the pie crust figured out, I started branching out beyond the ever present pumpkin pie. When I went on to start a small wholesale bakery in the 80s, pies were my specialty and they remain my favorite things to bake. This year, I am only making 2 pumpkin pies but in years past I would make family members’ favorite pies so their number would rival the number of side dishes we offered at dinner. My mile-high apple pie for my Dad and brother Rocco, a fresh pineapple pie for my Mom, blackberry pie for my brother Charles, chocolate cream because there must be chocolate, and brandied mincemeat apple pie for all the nay-sayers who say they hate mincemeat. Gets them every time. Thanksgiving became a week each year to spoil and fuss over my family, friends, and neighbors whether I have twenty-five at my table or just a few."

"I am thankful for many things in my life. If I pick the top two things, it would be my family and my job. I had great parents to start with. We don’t choose our parents. I am very thankful I had the best parents one could have. We all choose our spouses and I did quite early in my life. I am thankful my first and only girl friend at age 17 turned out to be the best choice I made in my life. I am now married to her for 39 years with two children and two grandchildren. I am not sure one can choose one’s children or not. I believe, it’s a gift of God and I am thankful for our two children who turned out to be the best for us. I am also thankful that our children chose their spouses wisely as I did. The last four years of our lives are rejuvenated with the arrival of our two lovely grandchildren. I am very thankful for the family I have in my life.

In my grad school, my favorite subject was finite element methods. When I got the opportunity to work right after my graduation, in the field of my great interest, I embraced it and never wavered. I am very grateful that I still continue with my field of interest in my job and soon finishing 30 years at MSC. In addition, I am fortunate to work with many great people and in the process earned the friendship of very many good people at MSC. I consider MSC as my second family and I am very grateful for that."

"I’m grateful that I get to wake up to be able to do something creative and learn new things everyday. Most of all, thankful to be surrounded by so many people who help me learn from all the mistakes, achievements and challenges that unfold day after day. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and enjoy the holidays!"

"I am thankful to my colleagues for developing cool new features.

I am thankful to my manager for actually taking a lunch break on Thursdays so I can go and play soccer.

I am thankful to have survived Canyon I & II fires this year; giving me some time to get our act together before Canyon III hits.

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving to allow us express our gratitude; watching all the love, kindness and unity disappear as soon as Black Friday arrives.

But seriously, I am very grateful this year for having the chance to fly overseas and spend a week with my father; days before he passed away".
